The New Zealand Festival of Christmas returns this winter with a brand-new theme for 2026:
A Very Country Christmas
This July, Greytown will once again transform into the cosiest, happiest place in Aotearoa, celebrating everything we love about a classic kiwi Christmas, with a proudly rural, mid-winter twist.
This is country Christmas done properly. Crackling outdoor braziers, glowing lights, festive food and beverages, mulled wine and gin, and the joy of coming together with friends and whānau. Rug up, wander around Main Street and soak up the warmth of small-town hospitality.
Some much-loved favourites are returning bigger and brighter, including the iconic Light Up Truck & Tractor Parade, Cocktails and Comedy, and the hottest event from 2025, the magical Illumination Night Walk.
Alongside those, we’re introducing a lineup of brand-new country Christmas experiences for 2026, including a Winter Town & Country A&P-style Show, a spectacular Festive Balloon Glow and Bonfire, and the Ride-On Lawnmower Grand Prix, adding unmistakable rural flair to the festival.
It’s a full month of festive fun, country-style, and we’d love you to join us. It may not be the biggest festival in the world, but it is the happiest. So block out your calendar and make plans to be in Greytown this winter.
