Greytown Festival of Christmas

We thought having a special celebration in July is something, everyone would enjoy and a mid-winter festival with lights, decorations and special events that emulate a Northern Hemisphere Christmas is perfect.

This July, our very first Greytown Festival of Christmas is a chance to celebrate togetherness. Let’s create a new Greytown tradition, together!

Christmas history comes alive at Cobblestones

Come and experience what Christmas was like for early settlers at Cobblestones Museum. Victorian craft activities for the kids, lessons and storytelling in the school, old-fashioned Devonshire teas, mulled wine and delicious mince pies. See the Victorian decorations in the church and lots more.

Every Saturday from 10 am until 4 pm throughout July.
FREE entry (koha appreciated).

Property Brokers Best Decorated Home & Garden

See the most beautiful Christmas village in NZ all lit up!

Some of our enthusiastic locals have dressed up their homes and gardens with Christmas lights for July!

Get the family together and come see the properties all lit up and decorated. See the map of properties here.

Thanks to Greytown Property Brokers for sponsoring this event.

See the Main Street decorated and enjoy the light displays

Many of the Main Street businesses are lighting up their buildings with some putting on a special light show each evening and dressing their windows in a festive theme!

See the giant Christmas tree outside the Town Hall and look at all the beautiful window displays. Wander along the Main St and see Craig Thorburn’s from Grand Illusions gorgeous lodge-inspired  wreaths and garlands. See the festive lights at the Town Hall. Hark, the school choir angels sing on Main St (10am to 2pm), watch out for pop up theatrical performances from Greytown Little Theatre’s  thespians and listen out for our very own Steve ‘Sinatra’ Carlin performing holiday hits at selected times. There’s even a festive sausage sizzle in the works outside the Greytown Butchery!

Will Santa show up in Greytown? You may see him for photos at the Santa Cave near the Town Hall on the weekends.

Blackwell and Sons Christmas Tweed Rides

10 am on Sunday 12, 19 and 26 July (rain or shine).

Leaving from the back of Blackwell and Sons (110 Main Street) enjoy an easy paced ride for the whole family, dress up in your tweeds (or most dapper winter attire) and dress your bicycle up too! We will take a gentle ride around some of the village’s safest streets and join Greytown’s famous Rail Trail too, weather permitting.

You’ll be back before lunch and we’ll stop along the way to gather everyone together and hand out some lovely prizes for the best dressed riders and bicycles. Register online at www.blackwellandsons.nz
