Pick Your Own Apples at Molewood Orchard

A wander through an orchard picking a basket of sun-warmed apples from the tree is a wonderful thing! Would you like to try it?

Molewood Orchard in the heart of Greytown sits on some of the most productive agricultural land in New Zealand. The orchard has been growing apples and pears in Greytown for over 30 years.

Long-time Greytown residents Juliet and Ed Cooke returned to operating the Mole Street orchard in 2022, together with son Wendell. Daughter Merran is responsible for marketing and social media, and son Grayson takes care of the website and visual design. The orchard is now run as an independent family business, with the whole family pitching in to support the 2024 harvest season.

The orchard will be opening its gates to the public on weekends for Pick Your Own apples this harvest season. Delicious PYO pears are also available while stocks last, from early March until mid-April. The orchard is only a short walk or bike ride from Greytown's Main Street, and there is parking in the orchard grounds.

WHEN: 9am-4pm Weekends, from 2 March 2024 up to and including King’s Birthday weekend. Our last pick your own day for the season will be Monday 3 June 2024.

WHAT TO BRING: Please bring a bucket, basket or bag for the apples. You’re welcome to bring a picnic lunch as well and make a day of it. The new Molewood Meadows within the lush grounds of the orchard are perfect for a picnic.
